<![CDATA[ Today marks a number of firsts for the '07/'08 season at Steamboat. The Gondola took its first passengers today as well as the 4-Points lift. Also, a number of Steamboat's epic runs opened with fresh lines to be taken- Twister, Nelson's, Tornado and a groomed Upper Rainbow encouraged "hoots" and "hollers" from fellow skiers and riders. The addition of the 4-Points lift brings Steamboat to over 2,800 vertical feet of skiing.

Today also marks my first day Straight Talk'n for the season- the morning started with a beautiful sunrise-lead into brisk temps at the top of the Gondola and then soft groomers from the Thunder Head Express to the top of 4-Points. This season will also welcome the birth of my first future Olympian…more to come on that later.

It's a beautiful day in the 'boat. Suns out and the mountain is offering fresh lines and groomed runs. The weatherman is calling for snow to roll-in tonight bringing 5-10" of Champagne Powder. The storm is likely to stick around for a few days. Keep your fingers crossed and do a snow dance or two.

Grab your skis and head up for some turns- freshies to those that get here early.

Until the next turn,
