The Steamboat Child Care Center is pleased to offer a nature-based preschool focusing on outdoor play, environmental education, and a love of the outdoor mountain lifestyle. Our infant and toddler programs focus on relationship-based care where children stay with the same caregiver for up to 3 years.

Our center is licensed for year-round care for children between the ages of 8 weeks - 7 years. Our employer-based facility prioritizes team members of Steamboat Ski Resort, but we will offer spots to community members if space is available. After we meet the needs of employees, we will prioritize families who are already enrolled at the Steamboat Child Care Center. It is our intention, and an essential part of our continuity of care model, to continue to work with all of our current families throughout childhood.

We are glad that we have been able to offer high-quality care for non-employee families since we opened our doors in December 2022. During our first year of operation, about 50% of our families were community members. An increasing number of SSRC parents are now taking advantage of this benefit and we are no longer able to accommodate new community families in our infant, toddler, or preschool classrooms. It’s important to note our priority status which places SSRC employees first, followed by children who are already enrolled at the SCCC, and then siblings of current families. We appreciate everyone understanding the childcare center’s mission to prioritize SSRC employees.

Registration Information

Thank you for your interest in the Steamboat Child Care Center (SCCC) and for considering our center for your child’s care. We appreciate the time you took to participate in our recent enrollment period.

At this time, we do not have any available openings in our infant, toddler, or preschool classrooms for new community families. As an employer-based child care center, our primary commitment is serving the families of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation (SSRC). Currently, all licensed spaces are filled by children of SSRC employees and families who are already a part of the SCCC school community.

Additionally, we will no longer be maintaining a waitlist for new community families at SCCC. Two factors led to this decision:
  • A recently passed Colorado state bill has effectively prohibited child care centers from collecting administrative fees to maintain a waitlist. With this new law in place, SCCC is no longer able to set aside time and resources required to maintain a waitlist.
  • Based on current capacity and enrollment projections, we do not anticipate openings for community members outside of our employee base and siblings of current families. The high demand for space from SSRC employees and current families means that spots are likely to be filled internally, and the reality is that space may never become available.

The SSRC and SCCC teams know how acute the child care shortage is in our community and recognize the widespread impacts across the Yampa Valley. SCCC was created not only as a way to support our staff but also with the hope of alleviating pressure on the community child care system. While we remain steadfast in our mission of prioritizing our employees, we also remain deeply committed to supporting the community and being a leader in providing solutions to the child care crisis and improving child care access for families.

If you are interested in potential employment at SSRC, you may find available job postings at steamboat.com/jobs.
SSRC employees can join the waitlist at any time by emailing childcaresbt@steamboat.com. We will no longer be maintaining a waitlist for community families. Families who were on the waitlist prior to spring enrollment (since November 2024) will remain on the waitlist and will be contacted if we are able to accommodate a new community family. Siblings of current families receive priority over families who are not currently in the SCCC school community.'

The Steamboat Child Care Center offers infant, toddler, and preschool families a choice of 4 set schedules from which they can choose. PreK families can choose from a 5 day/week schedule or 4 day/week schedule. We will do our best to accommodate a family’s first choice but cannot guarantee it.
